I enjoy painting miniature portraits because of the speed and the challenge of capturing the essence of the character or person portrayed. A collector commissioned two portraits of PeeWee Herman and Elvira: Mistress of the Dark during the pandemic. After a discussion about the collector’s enjoyment of these characters and the specific aspects they most enjoyed, I selected professional commercial photos as my references for these portraits.
